I pulled my blanket around me, feeling the chill of morning in the room. I frowned and opened my eyes, seeing the bed empty beside me. I sat up and looked around the room.
"Drew?" I called out.
"Coming babe!" I heard him call from the bathroom. He stepped back into the room, closing the bathroom door behind him. I smiled at him and he cam back over to the bed, sliding under the blanket. I laid back down, facing him. He leaned over and kissed me, his lips tasting minty.
"Did you just brush your teeth?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. He nodded and smirked. I shook my head, laughing.
"I didn't want you to smell my horrible morning breath!" he said in a whiney voice. I just laughed and kissed him again, resting my forehead on his. I shivered slightly and he brought me close to his body, encasing me in his arms. I curled up against him, closing my eyes and breathing him in.
"I could stay like this all day." he whispered into my ear. I peeked at him with one eye and smiled.
"I love you."
"And I love you." he kissed the tip of my nose. I heard the clatter of cabinets and dishes coming from downstairs and I knew we should get up, but I snuggled closer to Drew. He laughed quietly.
"We can't lay here all day boo." he said, and I frowned.
"I know." I kissed him again and grudgingly pulled myself away from him and to the closet. I pulled on a pair of sweats and a T-shirt, throwing the same at Drew. He got up and got dressed, also putting on a jacket that was lying on the floor. He looked at me and held out his arms and I walked into him, wrapping my arms around him. He grabbed my hand and led me out of the room
We went into the kitchen hand in hand. Mikko, David, and Kathryn were already there, each looking equally sleepy.
“Morning VFC familia.” said Drew, automatically going for the leftover Panera in he fridge.
“Morning!” everyone replied, sounded tired.
“Hey Small One, may I have some coffee?” I asked Mikko with a smile, holding my cup to her. She stuck out her tongue and poured some into my cup.
“Just because you are a foot taller than me doesn’t mean you can call me that.” she scolded. I just chuckled and ruffled my hair.
“You know I love you.” I replied and she swatted at my hand smiling. We were best friends long before we moved in together. We had moved to LA together and even met he boys together at one of their shows. TC came into the kitchen and wrapped his arms around Mikko.
“No good morning for me babe?” he smiled, kissing the top of her head. She turned and gave him a quick peck.
“Good morning.” she said, ducking under his arm.
“Morning Baby Muscles.” cooed Drew, mussing up TC’s hair. TC made a face, flipping his hair out of his eyes. Mikko passed him a cup of apple juice and sat down, digging into her cereal.
“You guys ready for our camping trip?” asked asked, hearing excited responses. Mikko and I had been planning this trip for weeks. We had completely bough out Wal*Mart's entire camping section in preparation. My Commander was packed full of gear.
“You sure you boys can handle it?” teased David, chuckling when Kathryn smacked his arm.
“I’ll be okay, but I don’t know about Teece here. Did your mom say you could come along?” laughed Drew, pausing to chew his bagel.
“Drewski be nice, we don’t want you to be fighting on this trip” I scolded, putting my cup in the sink.
“Yeah you two, I want this to be fun!” Mikko said, hugging TC’s chest.
“I say baby TC will last about half a day, I’m being generous.” said Drew grinning.
“I say you won’t last either, I at least go hiking.” returned TC, crossing his arms. Mikko sighed and I rolled my eyes. Those boys fought like brothers.
“Ah! I smell a wager!” said David, pretending to be all serious. Kathryn snorted, rolling her eyes.
“Indeed. What should the terms be?” asked TC.
“That should be the winner’s choice.”
“Why are you guys making a bet?” I asked, crossing my arms and frowning.
“There is no need to do this. You guys are acting like kids!” Mikko huffed, standing beside me and giving the boys. Death stare. Almost instantly Drew and TC came over to try and make amends. TC stepped in front o Mikko, plain win her hands.
Drew stepped in front of me and leaned in for a kiss. I pulled away and huffed, keeping my arms crossed.
“We were just messing around.” he said, trying to pull me close. I pulled away. I shook my head and looked at him.
"No." I said. "You are acting immature." I said. He frowned at me apologetically. I looked at Mikko. She was washing dishes as TC stood behind her, trying to talk to her. I sat down at the table and crossed my arm, glaring at David for starting this mess.
“Hm? Lovers quarrel in the VFC love shack?” David cut in being dramatic.
“Put a leash on your boyfriend Kathryn! He’s making it worse!” Mikko snapped, roughing up the dishes. Kathryn shook her head.
“No, he’ll enjoy that too much.” without a backwards glance, she stalked away to the direction of their room. David turned to TC and Drew.
“I bet you two can’t last the weekend without touching your significant other.”
“Piece of cake.” said TC, blowing Mikko a kiss. She glared and wen back to scrubbing the dishes.
“Shouldn’t be too hard.” shrugged Drew. I punched him in the arm and glared. He looked a little nervous.
“Oh? Well let’s raise the stakes shall we? You can’t touch them, but they can touch you.” David smirked.
“DAVID LEI BRANDT!!” yelled Kathryn from their room. David winced.
“So do we have a bet?” he asked them. Mikko and I poured and huffed, watching them, barely listening as TC and Drew agreed. We walked off to the garage, slamming the door behind us, to recheck our supplies.
“We should finish packing Mark, we leave in the morning.” Mikko reminded me, grabbing our sleeping bags.
“Mikko wait….I have an idea. To get back at TC and Drew.” I said with a sly smile.
“I’m listening.” Mikko replied with a devilish grin.
“Well they can’t touch us, but we can touch them right?” she nodded, her eyes lighting up. “Let’s see if we can break that bet!"
"Serves them right.” She giggled.
“Sounds good, but we have to talk to David.” We found him sitting outside his and Kathryn’s room against the door.
“She lock you out again?” I asked and David nodded.
“David we need to talk to you.” He got to his feet.
“What’s up?”
“We heard about you raising the stakes, and we want to clarify.” David looked around to make sure that Drew or TC wasn’t around.
“Okay on what.”
“We know they can’t touch us, but we can touch them. All we need to know is the penalty if they do touch us.” David smirked.
“That really depends on you and Mark.” I thought a moment.
“Separate sleeping arrangements for a month?” I suggested and Mikko nodded, a slight smile on her face. I grinned and thought about how great this would be. Mikko knocked on David and Kathryn’s door.
“KATHRYN!! Your new shoes are here!” She yelled, and Kathryn flung open the door.
“Really?” she said and Mikko pushed David in and shut the door.
“He’ll thank me later.” She laughed. We got back to work, triple checking our gear. The next few hours were exhausting, as Mikko and I argued over what to bring.
“Mark, if we bring a big gun, we’ll also have to bring ammo and a cleaning kit. We don’t have room for it.” she said, exasperated.
“We could run into a bear! We have to protect ourselves!” I argued.
“The worst we can run into is a raccoon.”
We finally decided to bring a Bowie knife and left the garage satisfied. I walked back to my room and took a quick shower. I walked back into the room and Drew was laying on the bed in nothing but his boxers, a seductive smirk on his face.
"C'mere." he said and I raised an eyebrow.
"After what happened today? Not gonna happen." I could see the disappointment on his face, and to further prove my point I put on shorts, sweatpants, a T-shirt, and a hoodie. I gave him a quick peck, then laid down facing away from him. He put his arm around me.
"Goodnight boo." he sighed. I just smiled and fell asleep.
The next morning was fast paced. We quickly ate and threw our bags into my Commander
.
“You sure you don’t want to come along?” Mikko asked David and Kathryn.
“Nah, it’s been a while since Kathryn and I have had the place to ourselves.” said David, pulling Kathryn to his side, kissing her neck, and Mikko nodded.
“You locked your bedroom door like I told you right?” I asked Mikko in quietly, “We don’t want a repeat of last time.” She shuddered. Last time we left those two at home alone, Jayk found them in my and Drew's bed, not quite finished yet.
“Yeah I remembered. Where is Jayk anyway?”
“Still in Vegas, he was introducing his new girlfriend to his family.”
“Oh yeah, now I remember.”
I jumped behind the wheel and Mikko grabbed shotgun. Drew and TC piled in the back. The bet was on.
As the trip wore on, we got tired and took turns driving, and only stopped when we really needed to. When we finally got there, it was mid afternoon and we had to make camp before it got dark. The tent was easy enough to set up. I kept brushing against Drew, but he was holding strong, but by the way he kept looking at me, that wouldn’t last long. I noticed Mikko eying me and I smiled innocently. She mouthed 'I'm watching you' and I laughed. He boys went to get firewood and I pulled Mikko aside.
“We should tease them. Make it even harder. Just accidentally brushing up against them isn’t working!" I told her.
“Heh, what do you propose to do?” I thought.
“Hmm. Improv. It’ll be more believable.” Mikko nodded. The boys came back and built a fire, and Mikko started to cook our dinner. After we ate, we sat and had a cup of hot chocolate. I put my arms around Drew. He went to kiss me then stopped and frowned. I looked at him sadly. I looked over to Mikko and saw she had draped herself across TC’s lap. He looked miserable, and I’m sure Drew looked the same. She caught my eye, he nodded and I nodded back. Teasing: Check
I leaned down and placed my chin on Drew's shoulder.
"Let's go to bed." I whispered and he tensed up, pulling away from me. We all made our way to the tent and I saw Mikko slip into TC's sleeping bag. I pulled mine as close to Drew's as I could. As we laid in our bags, I reached out and began to play with Drew's ear. That was his weakness. He stifled a moan and swatted my hand away. He shifted away from me, but I scooted as close to him as I could. I wanted him next to me. I slipped out of my bag and into his. He turned to me and groaned. I just smiled and curled up next to him, falling asleep soon after.
The next day we decided to step it up. Mikko wore short shorts and a tank top over a bikini and I went shirtless.
“I should call you Abercrombie, since you’re channeling an Abercrombie and Fitch model right now.” Mikko said lazily as we lounged by the lake.
“You like it.” I replied, sticking my tongue out.
“I’m not the only one.” She nodded in Drew’s direction. I smirked and called out to him.
“Drewboo! Don’t burn lunch okay?” Drew jumped and went back to cooking, cursing under his breath. We both laughed it was almost too easy to tease my poor baby.
“Your turn.” I said, nodding to TC, who was stacking wood for our fire. She huffed at me and pulled up her tank top to her chest, exposing her stomach. I raised an eyebrow.
“You got to do better than that.” and she took off her tank top, throwing it at my head.
“How about we go for a swim?” She winked, nodding at TC and Drew’s direction.
“Good idea.” I laughed and changed into my Speedo trunks. Mikko had her shorts off. I looked up to see the boys staring at us. I smiled.
“Want to swim babe?” Mikko asked TC. He shook his head really fast and made a mad dash for the trees. We exchanged smug looks. “Your turn.” she said, crossing her arms.
“Drewski! Want to swim when those are done?” Drew looked up and froze. I shifted my weight to my other foot, knowing full well that Drew was watching my every move. Mikko pulled me into the lake.
“Come on, the boys don’t want to play.”
Mikko and I splashed in the water , being purposely loud and obnoxious until Drew called us for lunch. We got out of the water and stood on the beach, the sun reflecting off of our wet bodies. We barely contain our laughter while we ate.
After that, it was TC’s and Mikko turn to wash the dishes, so I followed Drew to the tent. He went inside and sat down on his bag and I stepped in after him. I zipped up the tent behind me.
"I hate this bet," I said to him. He nodded in agreement. I pushed him down and sat on his hips. He looked nervous.
"I won't tell if you don't." I said and Drew looked relieved. I kissed him and he kissed back, running his fingers through my hair. I kissed from his lips to his neck, nibbling on it softly and Drew let out a quiet moan.
"Shh!" I whispered, "Don't let Mikko or TC hear." and he nodded. We continued to makeout until I heard the tent shake and someone unzipping the door. I quickly sat up and Drew looked nervous. Mikko burst into the tent.
“Mark! NO! DON’T!!” she yelled, pulling me off of Drew. She pulled me to the lake, shoving me in. I pulled myself out of the water.
“Oh my God, I can’t believe I got that carried away!” I said.
She sighed and handed me a towel.
“I can, I swore that I was going to keep an eye on you. I got distracted by messing with TC.”
“It’s okay, this was bound to happen anyway.” she shook her head.
“Let’s do something since this is the last night of our trip. Let’s go hike around.” she said.
“Sounds like a good idea. I’ll go get changed, get the boys and we’ll go okay?” I told Mikko. She nodded and walked off.
Around an hour later, we were trekking through the woods, I was holding Drew because he seemed to see every single spider that we encountered, no matter how small. It was turning out to be a very uneventful trip until we saw a huge dark thing coming towards us.
“What the hell is that?” said TC, tipping his head to the side trying to get a better look at it.
“Is it a deer?” asked Drew hopefully, grabbing my arm.
“It’s too big to be just a deer.” Mikko replied softly, taking a step back. He creature stood on it's hind legs and let out a roar.
“BEAR!!!” I screamed, scrambling back and grabbing Drew, running like hell in the direction we came from.
“AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!” we all booked it back towards camp, praying for the bear to grow disinterested and leave us alone.
“I TOLD YOU THIS WOULD HAPPEN!! I FUCKING TOLD YOU!!” I yelled to Mikko, half carrying Drew at an odd angle, stumbling as we ran.
“CAN WE NOT TALK ABOUT THIS RIGHT NOW?? I KINDA DON’T WANT TO DIE!!” She yelled back.
“CAN WE GO HOME?? SCREW THE SUPPLIES!! ALL OUR IMPORTANT SHIT IS IN THE CAR!!” hollered Drew, trying not to slip out of My grip.
We all nodded in agreement and ran straight for the suv. I jumped into the drivers seat and started the car, waited a nanosecond for everyone to get in and slammed on the accelerator, only slowing down when we actually got to the freeway.
“To hell with the bet, hold me.” i heard Mikko say. TC didn’t even hesitate; he pulled her into his arms and buried his face in her neck.
“Holy shit, I thought I was going to lose you.” he said.
“Same here.” she replied.
Afterwards we all sat there in stunned silence. We were totally never going camping ever again. I pulled over and looked at Drew, wordlessly; he leaned towards me and I pressed my foreheads to his and whispered to him. Drew held my face and sighed softly. The whole rest of the trip was quiet, we were all in shock. By the time we got home, David and Kathryn were just sitting on the couch watching TV.
“How was the camping trip?” he asked, taking in our appearances. We must have looked like hot messes; We were dirty from running through the mud to get away from the bear.
“It was definitely memorable.” i said vaguely, and everyone nodded. David looked at us and seemed to hold back what he was really thinking.
“Did they stick to the bet?” asked David, wrapping an arm around a sleepy Kathryn.
“Yes they did, even with all the crazy shit Mikko and I pulled.” I said innocently, pulling Drew close like it was the first time. TC put an arm around Mikko, his hand slipping into the back pocket of her shorts. She looked at him.
“If you’ll excuse me and Teece…..we’ll just go clean up.” she said, and they left he room.
Drew and I left the room wordlessly, and walked to our bedroom. When we got there, he closed the door and locked it, pulling me in for a deep kiss. He pushed me onto the bed and and smirked at me.
"You were gonna go all the way back in the tent, huh?" he asked with a smirk. I just nodded and pulled him on top of me.
"What can I say?" I asked, "I just couldn't help myself."
